PQ1 is a versatile music and drama studio supporting everything from solo acoustic performers and 8‑piece jazz ensembles to chamber orchestras, intimate live sessions, and full band recordings.

The studio is also fully equipped for drama productions, with adaptable kitchen and bedroom sets and a live performance space capable of representing almost any era or setting. Extensive props store and professional sound effects equipment allow productions to be created efficiently and authentically in‑house. All supported by our experienced drama recording specialists throughout the production process.

Designed for performance‑led capture, PQ1 delivers clarity, warmth, and presence for broadcast‑quality output. The space includes a dedicated green room for artists.

PQ2 and PQ3 are our primary visualised studios at PQ, designed for high‑quality news and speech broadcasting. Each studio can host up to six presenters and guests.

The studios are home to some of our best‑known sports and speech programmes, including Sportsound and Off the Ball for Radio Scotland, as well as daily news output such as Breakfast, Lunchtime Live, and Drivetime.

They also support a wide range of topical speech programming, including Mornings and Afternoons on Radio Scotland, alongside Today and Front Row for Radio 4.

PQ4 is a recently refurbished, self‑operated studio, ideally suited to speech programmes, podcasts, and DJ‑led music output. It is home to shows including Get It On, Roddy Hart’s Mix Tape, and Up Late, and offers a flexible, creative environment for presenter‑driven and live programmes.

PQ4 also functions as the control space for PQ5, our visualised studio featuring a relaxed soft‑seating setup.

PQ5 is our newest visualised studio, designed with soft seating and a relaxed, conversational atmosphere.

It is home to flagship programmes including Scotcast, The Saturday Show, and Fad Botul Fìon, and regularly hosts visiting productions such as Newscast.

The studio features multiple camera positions, configurable screens for programme branding, changeable lighting looks, and full support for in‑vision guests and on‑screen graphics—making it ideal for visually led speech and discussion formats.
